Interesting Random Cohesiveness

I don't know if it's because I have been living out of a third of a hiking back pack for the past two weeks, or because I've been seeing all the amazingly dressed girls over here in the UK, but I am starting to get really and truly bored with my clothing*.

I've been wanting to wear sort of random outfits that only sort have a cohesiveness to them. I hope that made sense, I really don't know how to put it. I've also been missing my more interesting clothing and accessories, like my pirate hat, my cat ears, most of my jewelry, my many sweaters, most of my skirts, well, you get the picture.

Fall Dream Wardrobe: Crazy, Ugly, Funky and Awesome

In the midst of running around packing today, I realized that I could not, in fact leave blog post writing to 10 pm, since I would be on my way to Europe by then. That of course, left me with a problem: my brain does not function before 10 pm and I was incapable of coming up with an idea.

Twitter came to my rescue, and after a few minutes of panicking, I thought it would be neat to show you my dream fall wardrobe. This fall, I want to be wearing lots of crazy hats, big borderline "ugly" sweaters and funky skirts with awesome tights.

 Sadly, since I had to pack my entire closet for the next several months in hiking back pack, randomness was abandoned in favour of a completely red and black wardrobe with the only exceptions being an orange sweater (for warmth) and a cream coloured sweater (cause it's amazing and versatile). The only pattern I packed was plaid or argyle (exception: paisley dress).

Despite these restraints, I still dream of rainbows and pastels and clashing and crazyness.

Rayban x Prada x cheaper = love

It is rare that I see an item online, and go "WANT". Usually, I see something and go, "ohh, pretty" then I forget about it. I saw these Prada sunglasses on Doe Deere, and couldn't get the clear pink frames and smokey lens caught my hear and refused to let go.

I wasn't however super into the shape of the frame, especially not for a Prada sort of price. I literally couldn't them out of my head, I kept imagining outfits that would look amazing with them. Then, just days later, I saw these at the grocery store (yes, at the grocery store). 

They have the same shape as my beloved Rayban Cats, they have the colours I love about the Prada glasses, and they are mine for a very reasonable price. Prepare to seem them frequently!

Top Notch Top Hats

In case you hadn't caught on yet, I recently realized that I absolutely adore the Mad Hatter as portrayed by Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. And once I had realized just how amazing he is, I started appreciating the merit of a fabulous hat. 

So today, in celebration of madness and extravagance and living in the moment, I am going to share a selection of wonderful top hats I found while obsessively trawling Etsy.

This first one is by OlgaItaly, and I find myself drooling over it. It is a perfect example of a hat a person could wear everywhere. Personally, I think it would look great with a simple pencil skirt and sweater for grocery shopping, or with something crazier for a night out.

 I'm seriously in love with this beauty by Gypsy Lady Hats. A hat both amazing and extremely versatile (it's black and white, it will go with anything!) and with beautiful curves? So rare!

This next one, also by Gypsy Lady Hats,  appeals to my darker side. I have dreams involving this hat, a lot of eye makeup, stunning red lips, a sexy black dress and possibly a cigarette. I don't smoke, but the netting reminds me of how beautiful a haze of smoke can look in a picture.

Yet another beauty by Gypsy Lady Hats,  this one I see more perched a top a sleek bun, crowning a powerwoman outfit: sexy but modest black suit, crimson silk blouse, and black Louboutins, with that little red sole peeking out.

And last but certainly not least, a truly over the top masterpiece by Envyart. The creepy doll faces, the netting, the fur?, all of it, it just calls to me!

I wish I had a school uniform

I have never had a school uniform. Sure, there have been dress codes (I still don't get why leggings and a tunic top weren't accepted at my middle school), but never an actual uniform. To tell the truth, I kinda wish I had one.

I know I would probably hate it within a month, if not a week, but I think it would make getting dressed more interesting, but also easier. I know that most schools that have a uniform probably don't let you wear stilettos or fishnets, but it's fun to imagine.

The Big 250

Guess what I'm writing right now? MY 250th POST! To be frank, I never thought I would make it this far. I have never really stuck with anything very long, so at first I figured it would just be another one of my hobbies: fun, but short lasting.

In celebration of this somewhat important event, I made a polyvore set of the outfit I would wear if I were actually celebrating this event:

Valentine's Wish List: Vampire Diana Ring

I wasn't sure what I was going to post today. I wanted to post something relating to Valentine's day, but I wasn't sure what I was going to post. Then the wonderful Wendy B unveiled her newest beauty: the Vampire Diana ring.

Inspired by Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (who happens to be one of my all time favourite characters from tv), the ring is made out of silver, and the stake is blackened silver. Sexy Secretary with a dash of Punk

Lately I have been feeling rather dissatisfied with my outfits and clothing in general. There are some outfits that I love, but I feel like a lot of them leave me thinking: why did I wear that?

So I started thinking about what I wanted to wear, and came up with the following:

I think I want to go for a slightly sexy secretary look, with a bit of punk/goth thrown in for the fun of it. I'm craving pencil skirts, tight v-neck sweaters, wide belts, high heels. Sleek, simple lines, but interesting colours and textures.

I have long since given up on trying to find a pencil skirt that will fit me, I think I will have to embark on a sewing project, but more on that later.

A brief reflectoin

Wow. It's December 31st, 2009. Already. This year has been, on a whole, rather wonderful. Some bloggers are doing wonderfully comprehensive posts about their years, and their goals, but I'm not going to do that. Instead, I'm just going to reflect a bit on how my style has evolved over the past year.

So, in January 2009, I was a lot less outgoing. I was still in my all black faze. I started venturing out of my comfort zone, with a funky necklace here, a cool belt there. I pretty much stayed at this point until the summer, when: I started wearing ears, I started wearing extreme eye make up, I had a brief fling with plaid, I wanted to go goth and I grew a lot more confident in my clothing choices.

As of September, my personal style hasn't changed all that much, although I have been leaning towards sleeker silhouettes, and simpler styles in general, but I still have a place in my heart for anything extravagant, sequinned, leather, or crazy.

Ok, so enough with my directionless ramblings. I'm not doing anything for New Year's Eve, but if I were, I would be wearing one of the following dresses:

Shoe Lust

I think it's all the snow, meaning that warm, sensible shoes are a must, but lately I have been craving the most ridiculous, unpractical, uncomfortable shoes imaginable. Not because they are ridiculous, unpractical and uncomfortable, but because they are usually the pretty, extravagant, stylish ones.

Still, a girl can dream, and Dream Rosie's closet contains, among other things, these beauties. Impractical heels, little to no protection from the elements, delicate materials that would be destroyed by the slush and salt, they are the opposite of what I am wearing. If I were able to wear them, I would be wearing them with high waisted, super tight, knee length pencil skirts, and simple button down shirts, or maybe simple v-neck or scoop neck shirts. Either way, it would be very much simple outfits with fun shoes.

My main wisdom for today: hats are your friend. Once you find one that flatters your hair and face (I'm rather partial to a beret), they can be used to add a little pizazz to your outfit, while hiding those slightly dodgy roots. The only problem with hats is that many places expect you to remove them.

Headbands are also very good for adding some fun to an outfit, all while keeping stray hairs in place. You can get them in practically any colour you can imagine, any style, and at any price. You can even make them ourself, with the help of a cheap store bought head band, some hot glue and something to glue one.

Introducing Dream Rosie

In my dream world, where I am not only smart but also athletic and musical, where guys can't help falling for me, and where I get what I want, this is what I'm wearing. In real life, where I am smart, but a couch potato who can't carry a tune, where I can't figure out why I can't get a date, and where I am stuck thinking about saving for university, I am wearing much more boring clothing.

That's why you are spending today's post with Dream Rosie. A brief introduction: she is smart, funny, has a few close friends (like me), but she also has tons of friends and acquaintances. She never passes up a party, she can dance the night away without breaking a sweat, and only ever drinks vodka or champagne. Dream Rosie always gets the guy she wants, and is a great girlfriend, but leaves a trail of broken hearts behind her, since guys can't help from liking her.

Dream Rosie flatters her curvy body with close fitting pencil skirts, and the occasional tutu, paired with anything lace, mesh, leather or studded. Heels are a must, for every occasion. Her colours of preference are black and red, and she rarely wears any other colours. Her look is topped off with a smoky eye and red lips, ebony curls across the porcelain skin of her face.

Just Your Everyday Kelly from St. Trinian's

A little while back, when I should have been doing homework, I watched the movie St. Trinian's. It was love at first sight, and I have been dreaming of attending a boarding school ever since, even though I doubt that real boarding schools are nearly as fun as this one. Anyways, I saw this skirt today, and it reminded my of the head girl, Kelly.

I pretty much just took her usual costume, and made it into a polyvore set. I did add the head girl badge, because even if she doesn't wear one, you want people to know what you are dressed up as.

One of my favorite things about her look was how she took a long pencil skirt and button down top and made them incredibly sexy. I also adored her sleek black bob and red lipstick, but they are always sexy, no work required.

Leather, alligator skins and silver are materials I have always linked to vampires, so they are obviously included. As for the colour scheme, pretty simple I think, red for the blood, the passion and black for the night, the darkness within. I put in all the skulls to symbolize death, obviously.

Unrequited Love in a Dress

I just wanted to share one of the recent objects of my affection, this wonderful dress from Modcloth.Isn't it amazing? Sadly, I will be admiring this beauty from afar, because I am fairly certain that that skirt will make my butt look huge, instead of somewhat well rounded. It makes me sad that I will never get to see for sure, because I am also fairly certain that the bodice would make me look absolutely stunning. Le sigh.

Wish List: Ray Ban Cats Sunglasses

I have been on the hunt for the perfect pair of sunglasses for just about forever. Or since late last summer when I accidentally stepped on my last pair. And I have found them! The RayBan Cats 1000 RB4126, Is probably the awesomest pair of sunglasses ever made. I have always loved the Rayban Wayfarer, but lately a whole bunch of people in my area have been wearing them, and I hate looking like a follower, or a copy cat. So my search continued, and I found these:

Round, Large, Pointed Corner, what more could I ask for. To top the amazing shape, it comes in all sorts of colours. I'm almost certain that I will get black, since it still has a special place in my heart, but most of the other colours are very tempting too!

Stepping Out of the Shoe Box

 Despite my long standing love of everything dainty in shoes, I adore Dr. Martens. I don't know why, I just do. After many hours of browsing their site, I have come up with my four favorites.

Wish List: ModCloth Summer clothes

With Summer, hopefully, fast approaching, it's high time for me to be starting to look into Summer clothing. I say hopefully fast approaching, because there is still a foot or two of snow on the ground and the temperature is hovering around zero degrees Celsius. Gross.  

Isn't this dress simply amazing! I have really been craving bright blues lately, and this certainly is bright! I also love the cut of the neckline! 54.99$ at Modcloth.

I'm pretty sure that if this skirt weren't 64.99$, I would buy it. I love it at least  30$, maybe even 45$, but not 65$. Sad, but I may take it to my sometimes sewing teacher and see if she could help me make something like it! 

I would seriously adore these shorts, but I can't because I know that they would look absolutely horrid on me. I have a somewhat pudgy stomach, and somewhat wobbly thighs, so this not going to work. Still, I could wear something like this, I would almost consider dropping the 89.99$ for these.

Last, but certainly not least, these AWESOME shoes! At 32.99$, they are reasonably priced. I might actually buy them, since at the moment I don't own any sandal, unless you count a pair of croc flip-flops I wear when out in the back yard or on the beach.
