What I Wore: Warm and Comforting

Dress, Suzie Sheer; sweater, hand-me-down; leggings, ???; belt, Joe Fresh; healthy skin colour, forgetting to check the white balance

I've pretty much been living in this sweater lately, because it's so warm and comforting, and right now my life really needs some warm and comforting. Half the outfits I wear this sweater with don't include it in the original plan, but it's so darn cold when it's 7 am and it's raining and dark and you have to walk to the bus stop, and I just never end up taking it off. This outfit was meant to include the sweater, and that part worked out splendidly, but the leggings didn't live up to expectations. I think it would have worked better with a pair of thin nylons or some fishnets, the leggings made it feel a bit too covered.

Do you have pieces of clothing that consistently work their way into your outfits despite not being part of the plan?

Love,
Rosie

PS: I'm blaming my absence on caffeine withdrawl. The past week has been plagued with a queasy stomach and an inability to do anything other than watch old episodes of Firefly. I should be back to my usual fully caffeinated but still fairly unreliable self soon.

  2. Too bad you're not feeling well, but at least you can watch Firefly! Oh, the awesomeness that is Joss Whedon.

    Feel better soon!

    Cheers!

  5. for me it's my 15 year old denim jacket. It still looks "right" over so many outfits that even though I really want a new one, I keep thinking "why?"

Your outfit is adorable just the way it is. Keep warm so you don't get sick again!

  11. Oh no, you have the squeezy stomach too? I hope you get better soon! The sweater looks great on you and perfectly cosy, I think I wouldn't want to take it off either. (I've got one I wear EVERY DAY, too, sometimes it needs a wash and then it's back on again.)

  15. I like the patterned skirt with your sweater. I'm not a skirt person, so I don't typically think of pairing a sweater with a skirt. I usually have a black sweater or tee that keeps resurfacing regularly because it's easy to pull together and mix with so much stuff. But I don't want to get in a "black outfit" rut, so I try to consciously change it up.

  16. If it's cold out I always end up with a hat of some sort. I should just start including them, why fight them? :D

  17. I have two cardigans that have been in almost constant rotation lately! People are probably getting sick of seeing me in them. I think I'm resisting getting the rest of the sweaters out because I don't want to face how cold it's suddenly gotten. Sometimes you just need some comfort!
